Hijack This Help

I've been having recent pop-ups and other such nonesense on my computer. So, I looked around the net for help, and HiJack This seems to be a proper recommendation. I have since run it on my computer and logged the results. What I need to know is what is appropriate/safe to remove, but mantain the integrity of the system. Thank you! The log is below:

Well, you have a little work to do.

First, download, update, and then run ad-aware (from my signature) and delete all the spyware/malware items it finds.

Next, do the same with Spybot but you only need to remove the items it pre-checks and any others that are displayed in red.

After that is done, run Hijackthis again and post another log - which will be some shorter than this one.

Also if you could give a little more detail about I've been having recent pop-ups and other such nonesense on my computer it would help.

Hopefully by the time you've cleaned things, posted a new log, and given detail one of the security guys will be on and will give you specifics about what more needs to be removed manually.

 

Update

Alright, thank you for the help! I just finished your suggestions and ran HijackThis again. The pop ups have stopped, and the computer speed is improved. However, several processes remain in the Windows Task Manager that I am not familiar with. The whole problem began when I accidently said yes to one of the web dl (I thought I was saying yes to block it :-(). Prior to this dl, I do not remember having these processes running: AethK78G.exe, isr_ci.exe, t.exe, and Gbi1r6.exe. Below is the log. Download this uninstall tool for peper infections

Double click on uninst.exe, Make sure you let it have internet access through any firewalls and such.
Let it run and terminate.

Then run it again.

And Reboot


Start Hijackthis and place a check next to these items
Close all browser windows and shut down all other programs(even Folders) that show in the taskbar. Then Hit fix selected

Clear IE's cache via control panel internet options [delete files] button and mark the popup to also delete offline content

and do a file search for "isr_ci.exe" delete it anywhere its found
Dont confuse the spelling with similur files please
and these folders/files if still present

Disable system restore.
Reboot to safe mode.
Delete these files.

Go to C:\documents and settings\chris cashman\local settings\temp (hidden files and folders must be shown). Select all and delete the contents of temp folder. Do this for all users listed in documents and settings folder.

Run disk cleanup. I do it like this. Start>run and type cleanmgr /sageset:1, enter. In the opening window select all except compress old files and OK out. Then start>run type cleanmgr /sagerun:1, enter.

Reboot to windows and run some online virus scans. If all is clean, re-enable system restore and set a manual restore point.

Post a new log.

I use FlashGet to (it still works fine even after its bannerware is removed by spybot and adaware ) atleast the version I have.

 

Alright, thank you very much! I've tried both links for the peper uninstaller. The top one doesn't seem to work (dl fail), while the second one does. When I run the installer a DOS windo pops open, then closes....is that what it is supposed to do? Just to check, by peper do u mean peper trojan? Looks much better

This is an optional startup you can do without, but do it this way if you choose to, on the taskbar go start run type in msconfig hit enter and click the startup tab then uncheck it there rather than use hijackthis.
DwlClient---Support.exe then click apply. this one to
QuickTime Task--qttask.exe
these are also un-needed the programs can be started manualy when needed,
But check within the programs options and see if these a setting t not have it start with windows, if not uncheck it in msconfig.

Use there options to disable if there is an option if not use masonfig, then if there are problems you can always undo things.

be sure to go to windows update and also update anything that uses the web, for instance your MUSICMATCH Jukebox, quicktime, Aim.
