    Can anybody tell me how to get rid of the infuriating password box when I boot up. It is asking for a password for Microsoft Networking, It is a LAN connection within my house and I do not need a password, Thanks, John

    Hi John: Try this -

    "First, click Start > Find > Files or Folders and type *.pwl, make sure drive C: is selected and click Find Now.... Delete all that it finds.

    Next, right click on Network Neighborhood and select Properties

    Where it says Primary Network Logon: make sure it says Windows Logon

    Click OK and reboot, you may have to hit Enter or click OK on the login window after the first reboot but as long as the password is left blank and you don't hit escape or cancel then the next time you reboot the login window should be bypassed. "

    Dear Fellow Member aussiejohn;

    I feel that it is my duty as a fellow member to inform you that you are not alone in that area.
    If I start something, I MUST finish it before quitting. Otherwise it will be START OVER time.
    I had the same problem with one of my 98SE machines. It only took me the better part of an hour to figure out that it was my doing and how to undo it.

    Have a Nice day
