Okay this is what I have and am trying to do. Have a machine that a client gave me to trash. System is a Abit-BF6 mainboard with a Celeron 300mhz with a SEPP processor package. Abits web site says the board will handle upto a P3/700mhz processor.

Am confused about the terms sepp, secc and secc2. There is a definite difference between the sepp and secc* processors as far as the way the look. Are they interchangable ??? is one question. Would like to get a P3/700 cuz I see they are pretty inexpensive but they show up looking like the secc package. Again can I get a secc type and put in a board with the sepp ???

Or the other question is it worth it to even bother with this machine. Currently, the system has in it a burner, 250w psu, 256mb ram, sound card, nic and modem, floppy, w2k and 64mb agp nvidia graphics card. It runs pretty decently now but for the expensive of just the processor, heatsink and fan it would run even better.

Lastly, I have run myself raged looking at these package so maybe someone might know a good place to get a compatible processor, heatsink and fan from.

Thanks. Actually business a little slow so am killing time by seeing what I can do with this machine.

I'll answer the second question. Leave it as is. It just 'aint worth upgrading, unless you can get the P3 700 processor real cheap (and I mean REAL cheap). Then you may need to update the BIOS (not difficult though). I have a C466 (running at 525). It's sitting in the spare room. Nothin' wrong with it, but It's not worth much, and I'll probably have to give it away, which is sad after spending a lot of money buying all the bits a few years ago. Upgrading old computers is getting less and less worth the expense. Keep it as is for WEB surfing and basic game play.

Yea, I sorta was going in that direction. But the other part of the question sepp vs secc. Will an secc work in this system that has an sepp slot 1 processor ???

The p3/700 in an secc are going for around 70.00 which if it will fit in this sepp slot then its not that bad a price to upgrade to.
