Is there any way to save a 1 gigabyte folder to several consecutive CDRW disks using standard XP/Home software? I could of course move the files around in order to break the folder down into smaller folders that will fit onto a single CDRW of 500-600MB each. But I would prefer to avoid that. What I would like to do is just press a button and have the whole thing saved at once, changing CD-RW disks if necessary. Is this possible with standard XP/Home software (which is Roxio, I guess)? If not, is there any freeware available that will do it?

    Thanks for any response.

I think Nero Backup will do it. It automatically spans disks, but it may insist on backing up your whole drive, not just one folder.

thanks for all of your responses. I will check them out. For reasons I don't understand, I didn't get them until yesterday (May 9).

Johanna's recommendation of Chainsaw is the best idea. It is very similar to Goetz's File Splitter, which I use.

But it will only split a single file, not a folder.

You will need to zip that folder. That is bound to take a while, but worth the trouble.

Then use the Chainsaw program to split it in half. Save the halves and the restoration program onto CD's. Then, when you want to restore, just put the files in a folder and run the restore program to sew them back together.

This is a better idea than trying to take the folder apart.
