Conexant Modem Problems

My dial-up modem is acting crazy. It used to cut my internet connection whenever the phone rang on an incoming call. I would like to have it back that way, now, the phone will not ring when someone calls while I am connected. I have caller ID and call waiting but I do not want to disable those options. Can some one tell he how to get my ring back.
I called Bellsouth about the problem and the said to put *95, in front of my isp connection phone number. But then when I tried to connect it would ring the phone number of a local insurance company. I have even tried to download a different driver from the conex site, nothing new. My OS is XP Home. Also the connection sounds are missing. HELP!

Have you looked in Control Panel>Phone & Modem>Dialing Rules(tab)>(highlight the connection) Edit(button) ?

Luke, good to hear you got it fixed.

I ended up looking in Start>Help & Support to find where the call waiting setting was...reminded me of when I wanted to learn about Windows and read all of the Win 95 Help program. I am new to XP...that Help (& Support) program is going to be a bit harder to digest.
