One of the HKEYS (randomly) is in the expanded mode in Regedit?

    Using WindowsXP Pro: I've had XP for about four weeks - happened to go into regedit and I notice one of the HKEYS (randomly) is in the expanded mode. Is this normal in XP? In '98 all keys were in compressed mode when I entered regedit.

    The registry in Win XP remains where it is in the tree when You close. When You return, the tree is expanded as it was the last time You used regedit.
    I find it convenient to return to the same position in the tree when working with the registry.

    To collapse the tree, highlight anything in the left column and hit <shift-home> before You close. When You return, You will see a collapsed tree with "My computer" highlighted.

    Thanks, Christer, I thought that I had collapsed the tree - but, I may be wrong. Will check again.

    BTW, are you anywhere near Helsingborg?
