I am trying to get my old ISP's name off the top of my browser. I tried to edit the registry according to some instructions in connection with it, but it didn't work. No harm done, except I've got a backup copy of the registry on my desktop. Nothing changed. The ISP said "delete it (their name) from the desktop but that didn't help. What to do?

Sure you were in the correct area ?

In the right panel look for window title Right click and modify edit to say anything we choose ..BE sure to backup the registry first, or atleast the key your going to modify

    IE Branding
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Window Title

Or this should work to, go start run and paste this in and hit enter (fior IE)
    rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear

    OE Branding
    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Identities\{483DAFAC-90F0-49F6-96D9-337DDF5A3E93}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

Same for OE look at the differant identities and change the window title to anything you like

I would put in it a folder somewhere just in case, after a few days if nothing bad happens yes delete it. But ive no idea what it was you did edit out, perhaps put that back if you can remember where it was ?

OR import that backup you made then clear the branding again.

As to the editing, I didn't change anything as it turned out. Nothing changed. I guess I didn't "follow the directions" on this page personal-computer-tutor.com.
