Hotmail problems using Mozilla?

I'm using Mozilla 1.6 and have used a Hotmail email account for a long time. The past two days, I cannot get into Hotmail at all, but I can by using Internet Explorer.

Anyone else having this problem?

 

Do I understand that you were able to use Mozilla to access the Hotmail website, and you cannot do it now?

 

Right

For the last few days, I get a message that the connection has been refused.
I can get in using IE, however.

This applies to two different computers I am using.

No, I'm not using the Popper. To my knowledge, I haven't changed anything that would cause this to happen. And on TWO different computers?

I just tried it again and it seems to be working. I had dumped all my cookies before and tried it with no luck, but it connected this time. Hard to figure.

I'm somewhat amazed that you can access Hotmail from Mozilla Mail & Newsgroups. To the best of my knowledge this has been reported as impossible without a third party application. This is purportedly due to hotmail.com using a proprietary Microsoft interface that will only function either through the web portal, or with Microsoft applications .

I have the Mozilla basic browser and only use it for the internet. Mail is accomplished with one of many other options (Eudora, Hotmail, etc.)

I avoid IE like the plague unless to check Windows Updates, etc.

The Hotmail site just does not want to play nicely during the past two day.

 

And, in addition, I went back to an old disk-image I had and went back to that and tried connecting to Hotmail again but received exactly the same error message.

I would think MSNHotmailMicrosoft has altered SOMETHING to do with alternate browsers.

Is there nobody else having this problem?

 

I access hotmail all the time using mozilla thru www.hotmail.com. Is this what you are talking about or do you have some other method of access.

 

Having no problem entering Hotmail via Webview or ePrompter.
Are you running a firewall?? ... check settings.
I also run a router / NAT, allows me to "casually" disable firewall for brief periods for rapid diagnose of firewall interference.

 

It's working now...

Must have been a Hotmail glitch or somewhere else along the route which affected my connection over the past two days. All is well now.

I was testing it on the 29th by sending emails to Hotmail from other email programs/locations and the last of them just trickled into Hotmail Sat. morning (May 1). All of those other programs were working fine, by the way.

I have always used Mozilla to access the Hotmail site and had bookmarked my 'Inbox'. It worked fine until the other day and is now working fine again, after two problematic days.
