On right side of my task bar is a clock and other stuff. When I right click, properties, customize I see a bunch of icons. Most I have set to always hide. Some change for no reason to always show. Some are double for no reason. I would like to remove some of them. Is this possible, and how?

Windows XP calls it the Notification Area - there are some tweaks here to remove past icons - scroll down on the page to Notification Area ~2/3 way down.

Some programs give you the option of showing/not showing a notification area icon - worth checking out for those you have.

Wow, that xp_pastitems.vbs got rid of a lot of items. In fact I had to hit Restore Defaults several times to restore the ones I wanted. Will see how it works out. Thanks.

Today I have 6 Past Items. Only one is a double. It is my Local area Connection Speed. All are Hide When Inactive. Do not seem to be a bother, so will try to live with them.
