    OK,

All our users run a logon script which mounts shared volumes and updates AV.

This script is set on the users profile tab in the active directory. Now, I didn't setup the server so what I want to know is, how does the pc know where to look for the script when it logs on? All it says in the login script field is the script name, no path.

The reason I ask is that I now want some of the pcs to run another script at log on to backup data,I'm trying to run these scripts by entering them in the group policy, i've also tried local policy but neither seem to work.

I've checked that the policy inheritence from the domain is blocked.

Please help, I'm not sure whats going on but it seems like the script setup in the active directory profile is overriding the new script, or do I have it all wrong??

    Thanks.

That works really well,I just had the script in the wrong location.

    However, one more question.

The script runs in the background, there's no way for the user to know it's running. How do I get it to show the cmd window?

I'd think that was a GOOD thing. Displaying a cmd window usually just serves to give some users practice at putting mouse on "X" and clicking to close the window. ;)

If it must be done, you'll find the option to allow the appearance of the command window under machine policies, logon, "run logon scripts visible ". I'm very sorry that I cant be more precise (very new to this).
