Can someone help me...My daughter has windows 2000pro and wants to uninstall but 2000 won't uninstall, she gets a message that her hard drive is partitioned and will not allow uninstallation.
    What can she do.

You don't necessisarily 'uninstall' the operating system. You would have to use a boot floppy and format (erase) the contents of the partition and then install a different operating system.

Or upgrade the operating system to a higher version, like XP. But upgrading is usually not the best way to go, it's far better to format the partition and then install fresh.

Why does she want to uninstall windows 2000? And what operating system does she want to use in it's place?

    uninstall win 2003 pro

i also want to uninstall win 2000 pro and replace with win xp home...

i inserted the win xp cd-rom and have ended up with a dual boot system with both OSs on separate partitions on the same hard drive

xp home can't upgrade from 2000 - but i don't want 2000 on there anymore

can anyone tell me how to erase 2000?
if i need a boot floppy for this, where do i get one?

also, if i uninstall 2000 will i need to reinstall xp?

    thanks

    lors48,

You're welcome. Glad it helped. :)

    conilmusic,

I actually replied to this the morning of the forum upgrade. Apparently my post got lost in the switch. I think your best route would be to boot to the XP cd and reformat the 2000 partition, then install XP on it. Once installed you could transfer any data from the other XP partition, then format that one from disk management.
