    It should be noted that
    1) that patch and the article referred to are over two months old.
    2) it was MS' intent that the username:userpassword@domain URL's for secure sites be disabled for security reasons
    3) MS has released a patch for the early Feb. patch
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831167
and has rephrased the original warning
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-004.mspx
    4) MS released four new patches (for OE and various programs) last week which should not be mistaken for the patch in the referred link. Going to Windows Update should make available the patches, if any, that apply to each individual system.

    OK, I'm allconfused abouut this.......?????

I'm using WIndows XP Home Edition and ever since I started it I've always downloaded the Microsoft Automatic Updates and I've never had any problems with anything at all. The last two I noticed didn't ask me "if it could restart my computer "????

Am I on the right subject here ????

If I am, could someone explain this a little thourough ??

Thanks for a little light on this issue I've been wondering about for a long time.

    Apologies for any confusion

Apologies for any confusion with the latest IE patch i missed the old date on the original warning and confused it with the latest IE patch, but as always install any patch with caution.

Drag Racer7272--If I understand your question, you are asking why some Windows Updates require a restart to complete the installation and some do not. Those that require the restart are registering themselves in your Registry. Some, that do not require the restart, do not need to be registered.
Just follow the directions and you will be OK.

    Jim,
Thanks for that your reply !

What I'm saying is that I've installed EVERY Automatic Update that's ever come out and I've never had any problems with anything.

It just seems like some people install certain Auto Updates and I never have.
