Windows Update Problem: atapi.sys is open or in use by another application

    Ok when I try to run windows update I get this following error durring install.

    The file c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys is open or in use by another application.

    Claose all other applications then click retry.

    There are no applications running at all and I have tried doing it in safe mode, but I get the same thing. Any ideas?

    atapi.sys is open or in use by another application.

    Google the above info and several people had related problems'

    varied success - but may point you at a solution.

    thanks man I got it working. If anyone else out there is having the same problem mine was from DAEMON TOOLS alot of people have been having this problem, I uninstalled it and it worked fine after.
