Since I had awesome help with my last problem, I figured to come back here for more.

Ok, I have oodles of addresses in my collected addresses. I had created a list within the collected addresses section - a distributor list - in order to send out one email to all my clients. However, no matter how many times I drag the addresses from the collected address book to the distributor list, the names never stay in that list after I shut down the address book: when I reopen the address book to send an email to the addresses in the list, they are gone and I have to redrag the addresses to send out another mail. Months ago I did have them remain on the list, but I don't recall how I did it. (When I had to create a new profile due to a different problem that brought me to this forum, the names left the list).

So how to you keep the names on the distributor list all the time?

A somewhat related problem - sometimes the emails I drag into the list don't appear exactly as they were on the right side - quotes are added, like this "abc "@efg.com. Of course this stops any email from sending until you get rid of the quotes. I look at the index card for that name and there are no quotes - yet when I put it into the list it comes in with quotes? I fix it in the index card, and still it drags in with quotes? Why?

To illustrate what my setup is in case I'm not explaining myself properly:

    Personal Address Book
Collected Addresses (there is a triangle to the left of this list - when expanded you see:
    distributors

Thanks in advance for any help!!

    **Sorry. NS 7.0 windows XP.

Also, I've been through the menus in order to see how to contain these emails in the list permanently but to no avail. And forget about figuring out howto avoid those quotes in an email - I cna't come close to figuring that one out. I even deleted the emails from the collected addresses section on the right and when I collected that email address again it still came out back with quotes!

    Thanks

    zev,
    Thanks for the reply.

Address books are one of Netscape weakest points. Especially "lists "
I do not have 7.0 any longer so I may not be much help.

Mail list are actually indexes to the address in the parent book.A possible reason why the list is not retaining the names is because you can limit the number of addresses in the collected address book. This may alter the position of the name within the parent book.
I am not certain how the pointers work within the book database.

As a possible workaround, create a NEW ADDRESS BOOK.
    Name it "DISTRIBUTORS "
Drag the addresses from the "RIGHT" panel to the newly created book.
    See if the addresses stick.

Newer versions of NS and MOZILLA no longer collect incoming addresses by default.
As to the "quotes" in the addresses - I have no idea what would cause this.

Please try the above and post back.

I would consider upgrading to NS 7.1 or Mozilla 1.6
There is a rumor around of a NEW release of Netscape coming out, a strong rumor, but a rumor nontheless.

**My apologies for not responding sooner - got really swamped.

That workaround did the trick. And I really appreciate it. Now the only problem is still why those nasty quotes insert themselves into email addresses. But witthe firstp roblem fixed the second is minor.

Thank you again for your help.
