    Hi,
how on Earth do I adjust the Refreshrate on my XP setup XP Pro. I am dual booting with 98SE and I can simply from the Properties Advanced Settings adjust it. I have set it in 98 to the Monitor Guide to the best to have it flicker free at 80, but in XP it tells me it is set at Default and it is not as good as I can see a little flicker at all times just as I would have in 98 at
70 or 75. I have loadet the drivers for XP from the Install CD
    ASUS V9180 Magic 64 MB.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

    hawk22,

Bit difficult to advise as I am not familiar with that card, but in general terms ....

Go to Asus website and download latest drivers for XP

Make sure you have monitor driver for XP loaded - from monitor manufacturer's web site.

Under Display Properties - and this will differ between cards, look for ....

    Under Settings > Advanced ....

Monitor tab > Monotor settings - uncheck 'Hide modes this monitor cannot display - if you are certain that the monitor is OK at say 85 Hz then select that or else use the drop down list to select a refresh rate.

As I said - difficult to know what is on offer with your card - I am using Matrox G550 with twin monitors (for Photoshop)

    HTH

    Moving this to Hardware

    Thanks Pete,

I have fixed it by downloading the latest drivers from ASUS and installing them and it all is well now I can go to to Properties and set my Refreshrate to 75 as I have in 98 I guess the XP drivers on the CD must have been just very basic ones.

Glad to hear you got it sorted - thanks for letting us know.

Always - well nearly always :D, a good idea to try the latest drivers. Only had problems with one release of the Matrox drivers, but always keep copies of the previous releases to fall back on.
