I have an older mb with PIII 800.

I'v read benchmark results and upgrading graphics adapter typically provides a bigger graphical improvment than upgrading processor.

    I have a P6S5AT

I have the understanding that I can install any AGP graphics adapter in this board, am I correct??

Also, is it possible to upgrade mb & procesor without having to re-install the OS?? An upgrade would be fine, but a clean install is out of the question.

    win xp pro

My understanding is also a yes. As to upgrading CPU and MoBo, wiyhout re-installing your OS, I'd advise that you are looking trouble square in the face. Now, if you jusy want to upgrade your CPU, Elite says you can handle any PIII and any PIII Tualatin up to 1.2 with a BIOS Flash.

    ;)

    Gasolene,

    "any AGP graphics adapter "

I don't think so. Required Voltage varies for different agp cards. You need either a 4x or an 8x card that will work in a 4x slot (most of them, but make sure), because: "This mainboard uses the SiS 635/T chipset which supports a 4X AGP slot "

"Also, is it possible to upgrade mb & procesor without having to re-install the OS?? An upgrade would be fine, but a clean install is out of the question. "

I don't know. But you can go to 1.2ghz as above, and that should be adaquate (I think you'll see a big improvement).

You can probably install a motherboard and processor without formatting, just be sure to remove any onboard drivers for your current motherboard before installing new one.
