In device manager I have yellow question-mark with point of exclamation at the USB device. When I try to install printer or scanner (I downloaded latest drivers), I fail, and the inscription turns up: »The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)«. In BIOS I have USB device enabled, and using Win-XP Pro. How can I install USB driver and where to find it? Please for advice and help.

    mararuby,

Firstly, if printer and scanner are working, I wouldn't bother about the device manager. If one is not working:

Reinstall the printer or scanner. Generally, the drivers are installed automatically.

If not, find the location of the drivers on your disk (installation CD, or HDD if you want the downloaded drivers) and when the install-new-hardware runs, pick choose-from-list and have-disk and browse to the location of rhe drivers. If they are the correct drivers, the OK will show and just click it.

    doesn't work!

I did installed the printer and scanner software incld. drivers, but the system doesn't recognize them, because it can't detect USB ports. Could it be something wrong with BIOS??

    mararuby,

Take a look at: "The most common problem regarding the installation of USB devices" http://www.dataq.com/support/techinfo/usb.htm

Go to "Under WindowsXP "; the steps are the same altho the hardware is different.

It might help to know what computer you're using.

Usually your USB drivers can be found on a cd that comes with your motherboard, try looking for it :)
