If you mean pop up ads, there is a lot of different software available to curb it. I use AdSubtractPro, the ad blocking that comes with my NIS 2003 and, recently, I added the Google toolbar. It must work pretty well, because I am always surprised when I'm working on someone else's computer with just how many ads there are that I don't get at home! Preventing the ads from even being downloaded in the first place, makes surfing even faster. One caution, though, sometimes I want to see what's in the pop up box, and have to shut all the software down one at a time, and refresh the page, until I find what's blocking it from coming up. Pop up blockers are not perfect yet at distinguishing legitimate windows from advertisements. Do a search, and you will find dozens of choices for third party software. Some have email spam filters, too. Let us know what you decide on.

I use the Google toolbar too. It's been a couple months since I installed the newer version with the popup stopper and I have yet to have one get through unless I wanted it to.

If you hold the ctrl key down while clicking on a link the toolbar will let the popup through. Likewise, if you go to a page and notice that a popup was blocked and want to see it, hold the ctrl key down while clicking the refresh button. No need to turn the blocker off.

You might want go to this website and get this great free popup stopper called PopThis http://www.mathies.com/popthis/

When installling you can select to have it integrated right into IE (I recommend this). Then to change settings, yu just go to your IE tools menu and there it is.

I never see popups anymore. 1 or 2 might make it past every 3 0r 3 months! The program is small, but has great options eg. to enable or disable, the ability to disclude sites that you were you want to see the popups. All this right in IE tools!

    Have a Great Day

For those of you that like MSN searches then you can use the MSN Toolbar. Works exactly the same as the Google toolbar.

I did try the MSN bar and it worked great but I still prefer the Google bar.

Also... just in case you didn't know, if you are using WinXP, IE will have a pop-up blocker (and block sites from downloading/installing software) when SP2 comes out in June...

    Yea, I know... finally!
