I seem to be running out of RAM and I was told it was because I was running Norton and Symantec. After going to the Add/Remove to delete Norton, files of Norton and Symantec remain and refuse to be deleted. Is there a procedure to assure these are gone? Also does Corel sometimes use Symantec files.?

    How to uninstall NAV2000 - 2002

This Symantec site should have some info to help you.

    Uninstall NAv

If not go to Symantec's search and search for "Unistall Norton Anti Virus ". You should get lots of hits for info on uninstalling.

Also do a search in this board for the same topic as it has been asked several times.

Re the use of files by Corel I don't know.

Post back if you need more help.

    Hi gigimyy
Before you go about deleting needed software, can you tell us a little about your computer?
You're running Windows 98? How big is your hard drive? How much Ram is installed?
After a fresh boot, what are your system resources at?
Do a ctrl/alt/del for us. Can you list everything that's in the Close Programs dialogue box?

If you need us to explain things better...don't hesitate to say so.

    Hi gigimyy,

As Daizy is pointing out, don't be to hasty in assuming your problem is ram. Many confuse "ram" with "resources ". Your problem may not be ram but lies in other areas that can be cleaned, cleared up, patched, updated or optimized.

Your in good hands, that use lot's of TLC. She'll walk you through the checks and steps and have you in good shape in no time (referring to Daizy).

By the way, in addition toDaizy'squestions...
Who told you you have a ram problem?
How do you know it is Norton's fault?
What is the original problem that eventually led you here?

As far as Symantec auto live update service goes and whether Corel uses this service, I'd have to say no. As far as I know Corel is it's own corporation, "Corel Corporation ".

    Quoted from Symantec's site:
"LiveUpdate is the Symantec technology that permits an installed Symantec product to connect to a Symantec server over the Internet to check for program and other updates such as virus definitions and URL lists. "

To see a list of Symantec Products use the drop down list at their site. It's on the top of the page:
