Where can I find info on why my mouse wants to point at the ground when I move it rapidly. It also becomes erratic if I try to slow it's sensitivity down. Mouse type is unknown but is an optical corded mouse. Name brand is " semi circle w/ the letter i in the middle ". Model #HTM-92WT.

This problem is only effecting my game play and not normal internet scrolling. I guess because I don't tax it enough.

Playing a game on the internet and having your weapon point at the ground doesn't keep me alive for very long.

    Any suggestions?

thank you for putting this in the right area. Now all I need is some one to either ask me a ?, or tell me somewhere to look, or what I could do.

Sorry cant answer your question but I can assure you there are people out there that can. Sometimes it takes awhile. Sometimes some people go away look at the problem, play with the problem then come up with an answer for you. Inevitably they will come up with an answer.

Optical mice can act weird if the surface you're mousing on is not "optical-friendly ". From what I've heard, the mouse can get confused at times if you use a surface it doesn't like.

Try a different mouse pad. I use a plain old cloth one with my optical mouse and have no troubles. BTW, I tried a high-end optical gaming mouse pad and it was a total piece of cr@p. Think using a piece of ultra-fine sandpaper that goes "scritch-scratch" when you move the mouse - that is when you get enough strength to actually get it moving! I recommend plain old cloth mouse pads.

Although I saw that one it is not my brand or model.

this is the maker of my mouse. Someone said that mice don't have drivers. Is that true?

I realize that this question is more gameing specific and I guess if you don't game then you may not come across this very often.

It could very well be a configuration setting in the game itself that I am having trouble with as the issue isn't happening otherwise.

But more than willing to continue listening to suggestions.

No - mice do have drivers, generally a generic driver supplied by the OS (Windows), but many have a suite of software supplied by the mouse manufacturer to enable various functions - assignment of left click function, cursor sped , etc, etc.

It may be that your mouse is not fully compatible with the game - have you a spare mouse you could give a try?

Here is where I currently sit? Ready to delete game and do a new install, but I have noticed that if I increase my sensitivity (mouse) The problem is either corrected or is less noticeable. Meaning I fix the problem or My mouse travels a smaller distance on the pad and their is less error.

By setting sensitivity of mouse higher I become less accurate and movement is not as precise.

Is it possible that my mouse can't read fast enough when my sensitivity is set to a slower setting but I need to move quickly left or right?

What I mean is: setting slow (I do a quarter turn in a 2-3inch mouse distance) Half turn in 5-6inch

setting fast (I do a quarter turn in .5-2inch mouse dist or half turn in 3 inches?

Generally I can move the mouse in a nice fluid motion, but occasionally I have to move the mouse really fast (that is when my problem happens).

This may help someone who understands mice and their ability to capture movement.

I somehow don't think that a reinstall of the game will help you - seems to me that it is more likely to be a problem with the mouse itself, possibly in the design??

Is this a wired or wireless mouse? If wireless have you tried fresh batteries?

Have you been able to try another mouse?

Found another mouse. Both are wired and my extra one is a rollerball and not optical. This does seem to correct the problem.

Perhaps it is the pad that I have and the inability for the optical to get a good reading. I did buy a new mouse MX510 logitec but it did the same thing as my current optical (optical is what I prefer). I took it back.

Now I do have a difference in where I plug the mice in. One is plugged in with a small round plug (optical). The other is plugged in and you scroow it tight (Roller).

I guess it could be that I'm using a different input slot that is correcting the problem.

    Does that help us any?

    'small round plug ' - PS/2 mouse, 'plug and ***** ' - sounds like a serial mouse.

Really shouldn't make any difference, if anything I would expect the PS/2 to have the edge. Still of the opinion that your optical mouse and the game are not 'happy bedfellows' :D

    Edit ....

Looks like s.crew is a no no on the Board :D

I am of the belief that you r correct in that the two (mouse & game) have a conflict of some sort or that my mouse pad doesn't like my mouse. It wasn't that way before. They were both in perfect harmony.

Did change some configuration settings for the game and those could have established a problem with my mouse. Will check into that. For now will stick with the rollerball mouse.

Yes s.crew Is not allowed here it seems. Such an innocent word too.
