If you wish you remove the icon from your system tray:

Right-click (or left-click if you swap your mouse buttons) the icon

    Select Disable StartCenter.

To disable AutoUpdate so it does not download new software automatically:

    1. Open RealPlayer and click the Tools menu, then Preferences.
    2. In the Category pane on the left side, click AutoUpdate.
    3. Click to clear the Automatically download and install important updates check box.
    4. Click OK to save the change.

Disable the subscriptions, be sure use the scroll bar to uncheck the two hidden ones.

  3. to hide this advert.

If you mess with Real Player part time, two utilities you want are from Mike Lin (www.mlin.org) : Startup Control and Startup Monitor.

Startup Control is an easier and better "msconfig." Startup Monitor tells you when programs want to install themselves to the startup routine. Real Player and a few other programs will want to be part of the boot sequence if you EVER launch them. Start up Monitor lets you just say NO!

Avoid all problems with Real or Quicktime - download and install the K-light codec pack which replaces them, Windows Media Player too! A much smaller footprint on the HD, and it's free!
    Look on Google.
