    Hi Peanut,

The link is not meant to infer that you will not get further help here. It is to used as a guide. Do what you can and if you run into something you do not understand or need further help with, please feel free to ask or append to your current post.

After reading and working through the "trouble shooter for shutdown problems ", include, in your update to this post, what you have done so far in an effort to clear up the problem.

Remember there are windows-help.net "Archives" of past posts-o-plenty that cover this problem. Many complete with the fix that worked, at least for that particular member. search help net archives

Should you find your fix, remember to share the outcome, it may help to save another from the same frustration.

I experienced that problem with my Windows 98 Dell Laptop. Found that the problem was with my zip drive connected to the USP. First I disconnected all external devices from the USP and the computer would shutdown normally. Then I added the devices back on one-by-one until I determined it was the zip drive. The problem was traced down to a defective device driver on my zip drive. Anyway my problem is solved and I posted this some time back on the forum. Since its very easy to do I would suggest that you disconnect all devices from the USP and see if the problem persists.
