Can anyone please tell me how to "lock in" the behaviour patterns in Task Bar Notifications on XP Home.

    The permissable settings are
    Always Show
    Always Hide
    Hide when inactive.

I find that when set they do not necessarily remain set on reboot and it is a real pain having to constantly reset.

    Thanks

Use StartUp to clear as many apps from starting when you boot as possible. The icons are returning because the programs are running, and XP is letting you know. This will also speed up boot time, and consume less system resources.

Download and run the Doug Knox script, xp_pastitems.vbs . It usually fixes the problem.
