I have "Go Back" by Roxio installed and it has paid for itself several times.
My question is if I should receive any sort of virus which my anti virus program might have let slip through, and then realize I have it and use Go Back to roll my system to a time previous to receiving this virus, will this completely eliminate the problem ?

It'll just depend on the virus and which files it infected.

Many trojans install themselves into weird little know folders. If parts are removed they re-generate themselves...

Share similar concern per GoBack. If a virus makes it through and you "roll system back" or use a "fix routine" via Symantec you may consider "Clearing GoBack History" afterwards. When I clear the history, I prefer to leave computer running, but not use it for an hour or two. Gives GoBack time to build a couple of new restore points. I also have XP's "Restore function" disabled.

I'd bet on GoBack totally getting rid of them if you roll back to before the problem and follow the other suggestions from Dennis L.

    GO Back

Since Go Back has been taken over by Symantec, Roxio does not show any support pages for that program so I probably should try to get an answer from Symantec.
    Wish me luck .
    Thanks for your replys

I think you maybe misunderstanding our responses. We are suggesting a two step process. We feel comfortable GoBack can provide a reliable restore point. After you rollback and have a stable system prior to the infection, then consider clearing GoBack history. This is to prevent re-infection, since GoBack could have copied the virus into it's own history files. I'm not aware of any current virus which targets GoBack and corrupts "ALL" restore points. The concern I have is "time delayed" Trojans. Prior to the "trip" date, it can be contained in every conceivable backup measure one chooses to use.

    Go Back

Didn't mean to imply I wasn't getting good advice here by any means. All I meant was if the maker of the program was to give their answer to the question then at this point it would have to come from Symantec.
My last reply probably could have been worded better.
