internet explorer bug

    This is my first posting so Hi to everyone.

    Not sure if these are connected but both of these problems appeared at the same time:

    1. http://www.coolsearch.biz keeps replacing my normal homepage, even when I re-insert my normal homepage the coolsearch site reappears in Internet Options after 3 browser sessions

    2.I cannot access norton system works(to run a virus scan) and REGEDIT through Run (to enable an update of IE6 to be downloaded) because they both shut down after approx 10 seconds

    An http name appears on the taskbar called Super-puper-t... and at the time it appears whatever programmes are open shut down

    I have used spybot and ad-aware and although they have found problems deleting them has not helped with the above

    excellent, coolsearch now gone.

    Other problem still there, however - seems like they are not connected after all.

    junohera - Welcome to the Board :)

    Are your installs of Spybot and Ad-aware the latest builds - and have you updated their reference files before running them? If not please update and run them again.

    Then do an online virus scan - Housecall in my sig.

    If you still have problems download and run HijackThis - in my sig.

    Post the log here and don't fix anything unless advised to do so by one of the experts on the Board.
