Seems like I had this problem a few years back but don't remember how I solved it. I know someone on this thread ( probably Romona :) . I have 2 email messages I cannot delete from my inbox. Something changed them because they are slightly grayed out no bold black like they should be. Can I just delete that INBOX folder and create another?

    Thanks

    idkjs,

Try browsing to your current active profile account and delete the inbox.msf file -
NOT THE ONE WITHOUT THE EXTENSION....

If that does not work we can take another approach.

Thanks for the reply but that didnt work, or at least the way I tried it. I get the error message " Cannot delete Inbox: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use ". I am running Win 200 Pro BTW. Forgot to put that in my first post.

    idkjs,

    Poor instructions on my part:

CLOSE ALL INSTANCES OF NS/MOZ - INCLUDING QUICK LAUNCH..

Then browse to your active profile account:

    Delete the inbox.msf only.

NOT THE ONE WITHOUT OUT AN EXTENSION

    edit:
Compact folder after you restart NS?MOZ

Sorry for the error on my part.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks Capt you are not completly to blame :). I never use Quick Launch ( causes more problems than it solves ) and I did not have Netscape open. Me thinks the problems is that I an too dense to know what "Then browse to your active profile account:" is :)

    Open NS - MAIL
Select the account that is giving you problems in the left panel.
Select "View settings for this account" in right panel
Select "Server settings" under account name in left panel.
In the right panel close to the bottom you will find:
    "Local directory "

Note the pathe - it should read something like:
C:\WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA\Mozilla\Profiles\<your profile name>\rv5c3zmc.slt\Mail\mail.<your ISP>.com - depending on what your Operating system is....

That is the location of your current active profile Mail folder for that account.

    Close ALL of NS.....

Open Windows Explorer - NOT INTERNET EXPLORER and browse to the location found above - browse down to "inbox.msf" -- that is the file that you want to delete. DO NOT DELETE THE FILE THAT HAS NO EXTENSION

Then restart NS - compact folder -

Let me know if you have questions.

Well now I am lost. I do not have a Windows folder ( maybe because I am running Win 200 ). I have a WINNT folder. However I see no APPLICATION DATA\Mozilla\ folders in it

    idkjs,

Stick with me here and we will get things going:

    Again - my goof...

I believe that your profiles are in:

    Windows NT
    C:\Winnt\Profiles\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

If I stray to much off track - maybe someone with Win 200 ? will chime in.

Look for the pathe indicated in "Local directory" settings that you found above.

When we find the correct folder - proceed as indicated - Delete the inbox.msf file.

    Hang in there

    regards:captjlddavis
