Every time I try to open a profile in profile manager in Netscape 7.1, a browser window is launched with my home page on it and not the Profile Manager.
I have heard of this before if Netscape was still running, however Netscape is not running in the task manager processes and I even tried to reboot into safe mode to access it and I get the same.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Forum, flgal!

    Hi Fla Girl,
When you open the Profile Manager, what do you want to do, create a new Profile, Rename a Profile, or delete a Profile? There are buttons for each of those options. Netscape will always open when you click on the Profile Name.
If Netscape is running, you would get nothing, i.e., there would be no window opening.

First, I am running Win2000, what happened is that my isp changed out their Exchange servers and the new exchange servers did not recognize my mail account name as it was: ie: sandyk@isp.net, and I had to reset my password .
I needed to edit the Profile Manager to reflect the new way it recognized it which was: sandyking@isp.net and reset the password.
Since I couldn't get into Profile Manager, I went ahead and directly edited via the about:config .
I was able to change what I needed to change, however now, every time I go into email, I have to enter my password for both the pop3 account and the master password for Netscape even though I keep checking for Netscape Password Manager to remember the password.
I can see that the password is in Password Manager, however it won't automatically enter it when I access my email.

    Hi Fla Girl,

I believe you are confusing Profile Manager with something else. You did access Profile Manager. It contains no settings, only the Profile name.

Perhaps you're thinking about the prefs.js file? This is where the changes you make in about:config are listed. The prefs.js file is located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

NOTE: These files are hidden by default.
    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab
    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders

Try removing your Mail password, and Master password via the Password Manager.

This time when you enter your password you will be able to enable the "Use Password Manager to remember this Password. "

Let us know if you continue to have problems.
