I have a W2K Server that is behaveing strangely, When you click (or otherwise activate) the start button the entire Explorer.Exe crashes and restarts with a new PID. also when accessing the hardware setup screen it says "You can only install one hardware Device at a time please wait for the current install to complete before installing more hardware.

I have not installed any new hardware, the only thing I can think of is a recent Windows update that had revised video drivers in it.

I am running SP2 and all patches up to march 1

I have searched all over the place for a solution, Has anyone seen this before, can you give me a hint how to cancel a Hardware install that has lasted for 2 weeks across several reboots. I have tried pulling cards, swapping pci slots, and swapping memory modules, just about anything I could think of. I have not tried the Garden Hose yet tho :)

Try starting up in safe mode and uninstall the video card in device manager.

Do you have a current ERD?

Have you tried getting into the repair console and setting video to use the default drivers?

That should at least allow you to get the machine so you can try to fix the problems.
