I have a Toshiba 2100CDS laptop (old i know). I had Win2K successfully running on it but it was slow, so I decided to give XP a try on it, cuz I like doing things like that. Anyway, it runs faster and the boot time is awsome, but I have one problem. I have a Netgear MA401 WiFi card, and I have no problems with it, but my Netgear FA410tx freezes the laptop when inserted with the WiFi card not in it. For example if I put my WiFi card in first (either slot), then I put the fa410 everything is fine and i can use that card. But if I place the fa410 in first (either slot) the laptop just freezes and all I can do is do a hard reset.

I was hoping that maybe someone out there experienced something like this.

    Both cards worked in Win2K
Both driver sets are the latest.
I tried to install the card in safe mode.
    I have the latest firmware.

I just find it odd that once the WiFi card is loaded the other card works perfectly.

    Thanks in advance.

That does seem a bit odd...

I recently upgraded one of our laptops to WIN XP PRO and found out that XP and the Netgear FA410 don't play well together and had to come up with a different network card. Fortunately I had one available and didn't have to go out and buy a new one.

Before I did the upgrade I ran Microsofts program to determine if my hardware was compatible with XP, that's where it said that I might have problems with the Netgear card.

So it's definately a known problem, why it works with the WiFi card I haven't a clue. Just be glad it works at all.

K, Thanks. It really isn't a big deal I have WiFi in the house so its just the principle of the matter, since I own the thing ;-)

But my ears are still open if anyone has an answer.

    Thx
