I have lost the component to add/remove programs from control panel. How can I restore without completely restoring windows me?

BEV--Perhaps the simplest way is to use TweakUI|Control Panel|make sure the line appwiz.cpl has a check to the left. If not check it|apply|OK.
If you do not have TweakUI get it here

You have not told us what version of Windows you are using, but this article may help you determine if you have appwiz.cpl on your hard drive and what to do if you do not. The article really is about a corrupt appwiz.cpl file, but the extraction of a new copy also applies if you are missing appwiz.cpl. (.cpl files are in C:\Windows\System--in Win98 anyway).

Did you happen to use Regseeker? If so, look in the Regseeker folder and double click the AddRemove file. Yes, you want to merge this information into the registry when the question comes up.
