When I go to my folder where my swf files are put temporarily, the folder will not show even though I have both show hidden files and to allow system folder to show. There must be another setting in XP somewhere. These are swf files I have received in emails or downloaded with the .swf extension. Using XP Pro--Mozilla 1.6-- Also where does XP put the temporary internet files, I have heard some of these are hidden also.

    Thanks,

    quickshot:eek:

TIF's are in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings (hidden).
There are no other settings I know of to show hidden files. Do a search of the drive, include hidden files, for *.swf

  3. to hide this advert.

AgentRansack is a far superior/faster search engine than the one in XP

:) Thanks for the replies, I have forwarded the messages on to my brother[ he is the one having troubles] I use Win 98SE so no nothing about XP and its file structure. Maybe the file locator will help him also.
I have the same .swf files and they are visable at all times and I use IrfanView to open them as he does.
    thanks,

    quickshot:rolleyes:

When using Mozilla, the .swf files are stored in its own browser cache and not in IE's Temporary Internet Folder. You can view files in Mozilla's cache by typing about:cache (no space) on Mozilla's Address Bar and press enter or click Go.

On the bottom half of the page, under Disk cache device, click List Cache Entries. There will probably be many files there. Click on Edit > Find in This page.... In Find text:, type in .swf and look for the appropriate .swf file.

When you find the file, click on it. The next page will show the file link again. Right click on that link and click Save Link Target As.... If you're online, the file will be downloaded again. If you're offline, the file will be retrieved from the cache if it is still available.

Hope this helps your brother. ;)
