I bought my husband a new monitor for chiristmas and just recently the colour started to go on the sides of the screen. It would creep further and further in to the middle the longer it was left on. I contacted the maufacture and they agreed to swap the monitor. Now my problem lies with the new one, apart from it whistling when it is swiched on i couldnt see anything wrong with it, that is until I turned it off. When you shut down windows (XP) everything goes normaly but then as soon as you think it is swiched off you get a box up on the screen which says.....

Is this a problem and should I get back to the manufacture to demand another replacement.

PS I dont think that the replacement is a brand new one as the box it came in is a used one.

    Stitch,

That is normal with many monitors - you should see the same when the monitor is switched on without the PC booted up.

Not too sure about the whistling though - unless it is only temporary on start up. If that's the case it's probably something to do with the start up sequence, but, then I'm no electrician!!

Unfortunately replacement monitors are often returns that have been 'fixed' - I had to get my 22" Iiyama replaced within a few weeks - the replacement looked brand new, probably wasn't, but the box was very S/H! Anyway it's worked fine for over a year.

    Hi Pete
I know you get the message when the monitor is on but base unit isnt but I have never seen it when shutting down. We never saw it on the monitor that went back which is why we were concerned about it.
And the high pitched whistle is there all the time not very loud but still I can here it when I walk into the room.

I think it is just a matter of timing - between the PC shutting down and the monitor going into standby mode.

But the whistling - that ain't right.
