    First thing I would try is the repair feature. Control panel, add/remove, highlight Internet Explorer, click add/remove, select repair. OE is tied to IE so both get the repair.

    Add/Remove

    When I go there it displays:
    IE Q832894 Update
    This program uninstalls Q832894 and resores your previous configuration. Do you want to uninstall Q832894?
    Yes or No
    Do I want to click Yes here? I see no button for Repair.
    Thanks!

    If you cannot find it in Add/Remove, go to Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools, then System Information. When that opens, go to the toolbar at Tools\Internet Explorer Repair Tool, click on Repair, do not have Restore selected, reboot when prompted.

    Version 5.50.4937.800 of file MSHTML.DLL exists, but the version needs to be greater than 6.0.2800.1100.
    Version 5.50.4937.800 of file SHDOCVW.DLL exists, but the version needs to be greater than 6.0.2800.1100.
    Version 5.50.4930.1200 of file SHLWAPI.DLL exists, but the version needs to be greater than 6.0.2800.1100.
    Version 5.50.4936.2300 of file URLMON.DLL exists, but the version needs to be greater than 6.0.2800.1100.
    Version 5.50.4937.800 of file WININET.DLL exists, but the version needs to be greater than 6.0.2800.1100.

    When I try to do that, I receive the Microsoft Internet Explorer Error: 96 (Unspecified error). It won't let me go there.

    Look in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer for IE6setup.exe. Double click it. Should reinstall IE. If that doesn't work, uninstall it by pasting this command in the run dialog box;

    rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

    then run setup again.

    *Note- you might have to remove the update from add/remove then go back to Windows Update to reinstall it, after reinstalling IE6
