I am currently dealing with a MAJOR email headache, and am trying to restore working Netscape mail. I got an error last week, saying "Can not write to the disk, check to make sure you have permission, etc...Not the exact wording, but real close. Anyway, I am trying to fix my email problem, by using version 3.5 of Mailbag Assistant. (Great program by the way) The program is able to acces the mail that I backed up to my E: drive, sort of. My mail files are huge, due to my partner never wanting to be without access to past emails for our biz, and the program is tending to choke on them. Anyway, I am trying to find out the format to export to, in case Netscape does not accept the files, in the original format, that I am trying to restore. I have searched for the info on importing mail to Netscape, but only find info on changing from 4.X, etc, always Netscape products, never going from say OE to Netscape. Maybe no one wants to switch to Netscape? Anyway, any assistance, or direction, would be most welcome. Oh, by the way, I am running Netscape 7.1, on XP Pro, which was upgraded from WIN98, which may have caused some of my problems, due to the different default file locations, and the fact that the "My Documents folder" is on my D: drive.

Netscape uses the unix mailbox (mbox) format. It looks like mailbag assistant can export in a Generic mail format, which according to their help file, is the same as the unix mailbox format. Try converting a small number of messages (around 100), and exporting them as a test. Avoid using spaces in the exported file name.

Of course, someone else may have a different solution... :)

    good luck.
