I have Windows98 SE. How many computers legally can I install it on? I know Win98 is not supported anymore so what is the rule with an OS that is old and not supported?

I believe you can install on to as many computers that you like, just you would have to buy a licence for each individual system. Talk with MS with that one. Are you in a company or is this for personal use?

One CD, one single user license, one computer, that simple. You are allowed to make 1 backup copy of it.
MS retains the copyrights of their prior OS's. I am unaware of any of their software that is in the Public Domain.

    As markp62 says

With the odd proviso to do with student usage rights if the original belongs to an academic institution (even then it only appliers to Office etc, not the O/S)

Dont get me started on Open, Multi Year Open, Schools, Select etc etc etc:(
