I recently installed DLS on my home computer and on my wife's business computer. My home runs fine but the store's runs very doggy. I had trouble installing at the store and after about 10 hours and 7 DSL techs, I decided to format my drive. That's when I found I had the Junky Boot virus. I fromatted, had to load my 98SE twice, installed the DSL and now the computer runs very slow. I've tried to list the differences between the two computers and the main things I can find are,

on device manager, under system devices the first one, advanced power management support has an yellow ! on it and second,

on internet options, under connections, the never dial a connection is checked but the entire section is greyed out (neither of the two are present at home). The store's computer resources are running at 82 and my home is running 72 and it's three times as fast as the 82. I'm hoping you guys can figure out something to try.

Advanced Power Management (APM) is unlikely to be the problem - 98 wasnt very good with it at the best of times

For the IE settings issue - have you ran Windows update and pulled in all relevant patches ? If you have recently rebuilt the 98 from scratch I believe you will be running IE4 (memeory a little hazy as to what was default)

    You certainly want this updated

Report back with your Internet Explorer version and we'll go further..

About it running slow, did you install the motherboard drivers as the very first thing after installing windows?
This is important, The proper drivers for the IDE controllers (hard drive controllers) may not be there.
Go to where you get into the Device Manager, but instead click on Performance tab, anything there about compatability mode?

I did the Windows update but didn't notice any diff, I also went to the peformance section but didn't see anything about compatibility. My IE is 6.0, you have to have this to go DSL.
