I'm running WIN XP with IE/OE 6.0 and connect via DSL.

For the past 4 days I've been unable to send or receive e-mail with OE. My ISP (Verizon) has been trying to sort this out - but we haven't been able to. I am gettting a connection and am able to get on the internet and check mail directly from their "webmail" site - it's just the OE function that doesn't seem to be working.

The error message I'm receiving is:

    quote:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.verizon.net', Server: 'smtp.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I am assuming that you are running a firewall since you have a DSL connection. If this is the case it may be blocking the ports for OE. I'd check that first.

    :p
Thanks for the feedback. I ended up doing a "system restore" and it sorted itself out.

It wasn't, however, the firewall. Somehow one of the settings must have changed and I never was able to find out exactly which one. (Spent 5 days reviewing the problem with Verizon.)

The 'system restore' is really a handy feature!!

Yes, system restore can be a life saver although I use GoBack instead. At least it's working...that's the important thing! :D
