How can i make Turbo Pascal v 7.0 tu run under the winx os. I know this is a rather obsolete programming language, but i need to do a project using this language.

The problem is that each time i click on the program , the screen flickers but it does not launch the program. When in the properties i tried to make "run this program in compatibility mode for win 95" i got the following message: 16 bit Ms-Dos Subsystem.

Invalid statrup directory, please check your pif file. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thx!

No help with your direct problem, but Free Pascal supposedly runs well under Win2000.

Free Pascal v1.0.10 32 bit compiler for DOS, Linux, Win32 and other platforms. Semantically equivalent to TP 7.0

actually, i managed to get around it in some way, but i am still not 100% convinced.

This is what i am doing: if i go to the command prompt and change the directory to the ..\tp and i type turbo.exe, pascal launches successfully although not in a full window (which i am unable to make it to full screen). However, still when i go direct to the folder and i click on the icon, i still do get the error which i described earlier.

    thx!

Well, if it works. What are you not convinced about?

I'm sure you must have already tried Alt+Enter for full screen. If you haven't already, try opening a command window and right-clicking the title bar, Properties. There you can change the size and appearance of the command window that opens by default.

If you are one of those people who ends up using the command window a lot, you might want to try the Command Prompt Explorer Bar. It opens a command window at the bottom of an Internet Explorer window, or in the directory you are browsing in Windows Explorer, by hitting Ctrl+M. It can also be accessed through the View menu.

Look for a turbo.pif in the program folder and delete it (to the recycle bin). Windows should create a new pif file when you run it again.

deleting the turbo.pif as you suggested and corecting the "cmd" and "working in" path has corrected the problem. however when i lauch the program i am getting an error message saying "invalid file name or extension" and when clicking twice on the Ok button, the program runs perfectly. I think that this error is coming from the default file it is trying to lauch because on top i am having the filename AND.PAS (which it does not exist). is there a way i can change this setting so that it will either not launch any file or it will launch a new empty file, so that i would overcome this error too.

Many thx for all your help!
