I want to be able to generate an alert message (to be sent as an e-mail message) when a Windows 2000 Console application detects some condition on data acquisition hardware that it is controlling.

I have heard that "sendmail" might be the answer, but I recall reading recently that there is a significant security exposure when running sendmail under windows.

Does anyone know a "safe" and easy way to send a simple e-mail message from the command line (or a program) from Windows 2000?

    Thanks,

    Steven R. Lowe

If you already have access to an SMTP mail server, blat would work well.

    Thanks!

I have located BCWMail which (so far) appears to work exactly like I need. I will look into Blat also. Thanks for the help!
