'Don't need it' maybe but it doesn't take much room and if it ain't busted, why chance trying to fix it?

I have both and since they are playing nice together, I haven't had the nerve to try removing the JVM.

I thought the same way as Newt did UNTIL I caught a version of the ultra-nasty "CoolWebSearch" trojan. The latest variants (over two dozen, now) with about one new version showing up every week are exceptionally difficult to remove even with the latest spyware/AV software. According to Merijn.org, this nasty exploits the old MS VM (MS_Java) in a couple of ways. Although MS has issued patches, and I keep my Win2K updated, I still got a such bad case that I resolved it only by reimaging from a ghost backup. Merijn kinda suggests "removing the MS Java VM completely and replacing it with the newer, safer Sun Java VM."

I did and have not missed a beat. For VM removal and Sun Java install ->

    Good luck

I used the tool - primarily to resolve some anomalies left by an uninstall of MS VM using this method.

    No problems.
