must repair connection every restart

    every restart I have to release and renew the IP before I have internet.

    even though it says I hav a valid IP before releasing.

    ??

    Every restart of the PC, an internet session, other?

    Next time and before you release/renew
    start~run~cmd followed by ipconfig /all > c:\before.txt

    and after the renew, same thing but pipe it to c:\after.txt. Then compare the two text files. Check for any differences.

    well this sounds like one of my average tech support calls, if you have to release and renew constantly then you either have some software bogging down the settings or a wrong setting in the local area connection setting, try and ping the modem, it will be a 10. ip if the packets are large might be the modem.

    Another thing is if this is a replacement ethernet card go to safemode and see if the old card is showing up. Delete it or disable it if it won't delete. Make sure you have view set to show hidden files.
