I going to be putting thouasnds of .jpg images in slide shows with sound tracks on DVD and would like some opinions on which programs would work best for this endeavor.

I'm considering Easy CD and DVD Creator 7 or Nero 6 Ultimate Edition... are there any other programs anyone has used which will give a high quality finished product?

I'm using Win XP on a P4 3.06 (with HT),1 gb of Ram and 320 gb of HD space, so hardware shouldn't be a factor.:)

Check out Pro Show by Photodex. Nice program with free-to-try. Link on their page wouldn't resolve for me just now though. May be a server problem. If it doesn't work, check later.

Thanks, but I already use Pro Show Gold to create VCD's, however, Pro Show Gold doesn't make DVD disks and that's what I want so I can create MPeg 2 slide shows and put them on DVD.

Right now I use Slide Show Movie Maker 3.7 to turn .JPG images into a .AVI file, then I use TEMPGEnc to create an MPeg 2 file and then I use TEMPEGnc DVD Author to burn the files to a DVD... this all works, with pretty good quality, but it is an extremely slow process... what I really want is one program that will convert .JPG to .AVI, then .AVI to MPeg 2 and then burn to DVD.:)

I can't give you specific suggestions since I rarely burn disks but I have read on here and other places that Easy CD and XP often do not play well together.

Easy CD Creator works great for the music CDs I burn, but I just got Nero 6 Ultra and it does a really good job burning DVDs.

I also use Slide Show Movie Maker 3.7, TEMPGnc 2 and TEMPGnc DVD Author to make DVDs, but these programs, although they give a better quality video on DVD, are glacially slow compared to Nero 6... at least 3 times as long to make the same DVD although admittedly the video isn't nearly as sharp with Nero 6.

I guess I'll stick with Nero 6 Ultra for right now for my run of the mill DVD creation and only use the others when video quality is the deciding factor.:)
