Fast Find & Disabled search option

I have a problem with search in explorer (being dealt with in another thread, hopefully) but a point which may be connected: I cannot locate Fast Find. How do I install this, do I need it, and would its absence effect my reported problem with greyed-out option to search for Files & Folders?

Believe me you dont want fast find, its installed I think along with MS office and consumes to many resouces .

Try this first
Open tweakUI

and check "Search Results" on the Desktop tab.Hit apply then OK
Open tweakui again and uncheck search results ,apply then ok again
Now try the start search for files and folders , any luck ?

IF not mention any other problem's even if they seam unrelated ?

Nope. Whether checked or unchecked, search for files etc remains unavailable. Good to hear me thoughts about Fast Find confirmed by a sensei. I must get the search problem resolved.. TweakUI new in tcked mode for search results.

 

How about in IE are there any search problems ?
and what happens in IE if you go edit find on this page.. that grayed out on me pc untill i type in a word.

Have you scanned with an anti spyware app
Like SpyBot or Adaware ,, most of us here use both.

PS dont call me that Im not,, there are far sharper people here
who help out

 

Hi Lonny sorry for delay. Changed my email address and confirmatoiry email took 5 days to arrive. Anyway. Problem resolved but don't know how. Removed TweakUI, Cleaned registry with RegClean & Norton, rebooted and problem gone. Now I know what M$ means when it says that TweakUI is not supported...
