Can't use "Details" mode in Win explorer

I have lost the ability to use the "Details" display mode in Windows explorer. When I try to do so all I get is an empty white window. The other modes all still seem to work.

 

Try this. While viewing in details, click the right pane and then while holding down the ctrl key, press the plus key on the numeric pad.

 

Hey, that worked. The columns are all out of order, but that's easy enough to fix.
