    Call me cheap...

    I have a 2 port router but 3 computers.
Can a hub be put on one of the 2 ports on the router?

    Yes.
You'll have to figure out some sort of IP scheme for the comptuers though.

If the Router has DHCP services running it should support 253 network devices.
If you dont want to loose any performance use a switch instead of a hub.

Joe - you will certainly, as noted, lose some performance but things will work if you plug the hub into a port on the switch side of your router (but using crossover cable unless you have a crossed port on the router which is not likely).

Under normal circumstances you shouldn't notice the performance hit though. If you copy a large file from PC to PC it will be at least 10 times slower but that's about the only time you'll 'see' it.

For internet use, the PCs will still handle the network traffic faster than the internet connection can run. For internal (intranet) use with that few devices on the network, everything will work fine.
