Can't run a .avi file with media player 9

I'm trying to play a .avi file using media player 9. I can get the sound but no picture. I can play mpeg's just fine with them showing video and audio.

Try installing the ffdshow DirectShow codec package:

Better yet, get GSpot, find out what codec you need first, then get the right one. It may be any one of over 200 avi codecs you need.
Odds are ffdshow isn't going to do it, especially if you downloaded the avi from a P2P source.
It's also possible the avi isn't really an avi, especially if you got it thru Kazaa, it's probably a "fake ".
If it's a pirated movie, there are very few legitimate sources.
