Drop-down list in search

When I begin to type in the first letter of a subject I'm doing a search on (in Google, as it happens) all the previous searches beginning with that letter drop down in the form of a list. Is there any way that I can stop this happening? Thank you.

 

Tools>Internet Options>Content tab>Auto Complete button. Uncheck web addresses, clear history on General tab.

 

If it's only the drop-down list of previous searches that you want to clear, in Tools>Internet Options>Content tab>Auto Complete, click on the "Clear Forms" button.
