    Hello,
I am getting an error sound on shutdown (Window's single 'dong'), just a second before the 'Logging off' screen. The shutdown completes OK. I am not aware of whatever change I have made that has caused this.

Is there a shutdown log that would tell me what program is causing the problem?

Your event logs will be tracking activity for at least that long. Should be something in one of them.

Simple things, first. Go to Sounds in Control Panel, Click on the sound tab and check the bottom Program Event settings. You can click to hear whatever sound is marked for the event. Make sure your log off and shut down are the default sounds. You can even reset the whole thing to Windows default, in one click.

Be nice if this were just a bad sound event rather than a serious problem, wouldn't it? Fingers crossed.
