    Welcome to WindowsBBS! :)

Check the event viewer for more information. Right click My Computer and selct manage. Right click on errors that look suspicious and choose properties. Clicking the button under the arrows will copy the info to clipboard which you can then paste here for further analysis.

    macnine check exception

Thanks for your response. After posting, I let machine sit for an hour, then tried to boot. Could not boot even into safe mode. I swapped out the cpu and did a windows install electing to have windows repair the existing copy. It is now up and running.
Had not known about the tip you gave. See several errors around time that windows stopped booting. Failure to read GPO history. I am going to run today and see if I get repeat of machine check exception.

Looks like I have a bad CPU. Put the suspect into a known good pc and got the MCE 9c error there as well. Thought I would close this out.
