graphics that dont open have an x instead of loading

    l am running windows xp home edition and have noticed that when l visit some web pages some of the graphics or pictures open and others have the frame and a small red x in them and do not load is there a reason for this? is this a memory issue and if so how do l adjust it? l am running 1024 meg of ram and didnt think l would have memory issues.

    jfwilson46--Could be many reasons and therefore many fixes.
    Do I understand that this happens to only some images?
    If so, the simplest fix could be to click Refresh or alternatively right click on the RedX and click Show Picture. Do you see the image now? If yes, this is a server problem (your ISP's or one along the way from the site to your PC). Nothing you can do about it.
    If you still do not see the image, here are some ideas

    Notice the possibility that a firewall could cause the problem or a HOSTS file.
    You could also right click on the X and this time click Properties. This should allow you to learn what site (on the Address line) is sending you the image. If it is an advertisement site, you are not missing much.

    I was having the same problem just a few weeks ago with trying to get graphics to display at discovery.com I had to install flash player at macromedia.com once that was installed everything worked just fine, feedback if this helps
